Single-family house Project B 2-3
Construction of a detached house in PGA Catalunya Resort
The house in PGA Catalunya Resort is defined in the same modern tradition, in its radical and essential character of shelter. It has a framework of bi-directional steel beams supported by cross-shaped columns, defining a roof and pergola for protection from the rain and sun of the Mediterranean summer. Beneath the pavilion, the functional programme of a standard house is developed over two floors, with four en-suite bedrooms and an open plan layout including kitchen, dining room and living room, all connected to the outdoor living spaces. The entire pavilion sits on a podium, defining the boundaries of the house.
The glazed façade of the house ensures total transparency between inside and outside, bringing the fabulous nature of the surrounding lakes and golf courses inside the pavilion. To emphasise this pure relationship with nature, the fireplace rises freely in the ten-metre-high living area, like an open-air campfire around which our ancestors sat centuries ago, gathering on cold winter nights for warmth and storytelling.
