Single-family house Project P13
Construction of a single-family house in Caldes de Malavella
This is a project for the new construction of a single-family building with swimming pool, located in the municipality of Caldes de Malavella, in the Selva region.
A building is planned consisting of a main volume with four winds, consisting of an underground floor and ground floor; and another auxiliary volume also on the ground floor.
The main building is based on a horizontal platform covered with a slightly different slab and perforated by four courtyards that organise the space, together with closed volumes containing the most private parts (dressing room, bathroom, staircase and pantry).
The housing programme is organised around these elements. Specifically, the central courtyards generate a west-west axis that divides the day area to the south (living room, kitchen and service room) and the night area to the north (master suite and bedroom).
The enclosure is made of glass on the west façade and approximately half of the north and south façades, in order to achieve maximum visual impact. The rest of the perimeter is enclosed with a wall that does not reach the ceiling and is completed with glass, giving the sensation of lightness and weightlessness to the upper horizontal enclosure.
The platform is extended in an uncovered part to a point where it forms another one at a lower level, which corresponds to the swimming pool that slightly overlaps with it. This makes it possible for the floor of the house to appear to be above the ground on one side and above the pool on the other.
All the rooms are cross-ventilated and guarantee direct sunlight in the living room between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on the winter solstice.
The basement floor is accessed from the centre of the floor and is used as a storage and installation room.
On the roof, the necessary elements for the telecommunications installations and chimneys will be placed, as well as the solar collectors for the production of sanitary hot water.
